Wataru Watanabe is a Professor at Ritsumeikan University. He received his BS and MS degrees, respectively, from Osaka University in 1994 and 1996, and his Doctor of Engineering from Osaka University in 1996. During 1999–2006, he was an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University. During 2006–2013, he was a Researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). He joined Ritsumeikan University in 2013 as a Professor. From 2020, he is a Vice Dean at College of Science and Engineering, Ritsumeikan University. His current research interests include Ultrafast Laser Micromachining, Digital Holography, Scattering Imaging, and Deep Learning in Photonics. He is a member of SPIE and OSA. Wiesław Pawłowski is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Informatics, University of Gdańsk, Poland. He has received his M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Gdańsk, and a PhD from the Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences. His scientific interests include applications of logic in Computer Science, Formal Modeling and Specification of (asynchronous and distributed) Software Systems, and more recently – Semantics-based approaches to interoperability, especially in the area of the Internet of Things. He is also an Arabian horse enthusiast and a keen photographer.
